Must be between the ages of 18-35 Should not have been already or previously included in another INSETA Internship funded programme Qualification: Completed a bachelor’s degree (LLB) or a master’s degree (LLM) in law
Description:
In this position you will work with the Legal Advisors in the SLS Legal Services teams who will mentor, guide and support you during the internship period. What will make you successful in this role? Most tasks and responsibilities will require your dedicated contribution as part of a team, but individual initiative will be encouraged. Duties will include: Provide various business units with on time, up to date understandable, practical and relevant legal advice Analyse disputes; consider, negotiate, implement and manage appropriate solutions Maintaining an up-to-date comprehensive knowledge of developments in the relevant areas of law and disseminate that information Draft and vet all required legal agreements including but not limited to binders, outsourcing, intermediary agreements, SLA’s, re-insurance agreements, data sharing agreements, NDA’s, joint venture agreements, cross-border transactional agreements Research, prepare and draft opinions required Conduct and prepare impact analyses of regulatory changes Assist with litigation and dispute resolution matters Facilitate the involvement of external lawyers Computer literate in MS Office which includes Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Outlook Good drafting skills, good communication skills, sound knowledge of research skills Ability to handle high volumes of research as well as meet deadlines with the view to adding value to the business by delivering the required results Record keeping, filing and maintence of databases
