Prescient Fund Services is recruiting a Graduate Hedge Fund Accountant for their Alternative Administration team in Cape Town. This is a permanent position, not a temporary internship — a genuinely rare offering for a graduate-level finance role. Prescient is growing this team specifically in response to strong demand in the Hedge Fund administration market, which means the position comes with real career momentum from day one.

Hedge fund accounting is a specialised and well-paid corner of financial services. Most graduates never get direct exposure to alternative investment products this early in their careers. Joining a high-performing fund accounting team here gives you technical depth that few entry-level finance jobs offer.

A permanent graduate role inside a specialist Hedge Fund Administration team — this is the kind of technical depth most finance graduates only reach years into their careers.

Position Details

Company Prescient Fund Services
Location Cape Town, Western Cape
Division Alternative Administration
Contract Type Permanent
Industry Financial Services
Closing Date 3 July 2026

What You Will Be Doing

You will work across the full fund accounting lifecycle, gaining hands-on exposure to hedge funds and private equity structures:

  • Assisting with daily reconciliations supporting the final NAV process — trade, cash and position reconciliations
  • Supporting the calculation of Net Asset Values across allocated fund structures
  • Assisting with daily, weekly and monthly reporting for Fund Managers and Investors
  • Working as part of a team delivering end-to-end fund accounting and administration
  • Capturing and processing fund transactions accurately and on time
  • Supporting funds and investment managers to ensure deadlines are consistently met
  • Assisting with system and process changes as the team grows

Who Should Apply

  • A relevant postgraduate financial qualification — BCom in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
  • Some exposure to Hedge Funds, whether academic, internship or limited work experience
  • Strong computer skills, especially Excel — this is essential
  • Prior experience on an Investment Accounting platform is an advantage
  • A self-starter willing to take on a wide range of responsibilities
  • Highly methodical with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in small teams and managing end-to-end information flow
  • Able to work under pressure with honesty and integrity

Why This Role Is Worth Applying For

Prescient is one of South Africa's well-regarded fund administration businesses, and their Alternative Administration team specifically handles complex products that few junior accountants ever touch. Getting trained on hedge fund and private equity accounting at the start of your career gives you a specialisation that is genuinely scarce in the local market — and scarce skills come with stronger long-term earning potential.

Applications close on 3 July 2026. Apply with confidence even with limited hedge fund exposure — the role is designed to train you into the specialism.
