Y, South Africa’s largest youth commercial radio and media platform, is proud to announce the launch of the 2026 Y Academy Internship Programme! This exciting 12-month programme is designed to develop and equip aspiring media professionals with the skills and knowledge to kickstart a successful career in the broadcast-radio and media industry.
What You Can Expect
As a Y Academy intern, you’ll rotate through various key departments, including Programming, Sales, Marketing, Digital Content, Technical, and Music, gaining invaluable hands-on experience and industry insights. This immersive programme will prepare you to thrive as a junior professional in one of the most dynamic and fast-paced industries.
Programme Highlights Your day-to-day activities will include:
Learning about radio as a medium and art form, including its history and future directions.
Exploring the impact of new media on modern business operations.
Developing personal branding strategies and understanding their importance across all departments.
Gaining insight into the role of marketing, creating impactful content, and supporting the digital and marketing teams on- and off-location.
Engaging in the daily operations of various departments and understanding how they contribute to the on-air product.
Participating in practical tasks, in-house lectures from industry specialists, and department-specific projects to sharpen your skills.
