Starke Ayres is the foremost African specialist and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower and lawn seed varieties – both for commercial and home garden planting.

The following position has become available for a General Worker, based in Rosebank, Cape Town.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assisting with the watering of plants where required

Repacking and restocking of stock where required

Cleans grounds of property and ensures general tidiness of the Garden Centre, sales floor, parking lot, exterior verge and general work areas

Ensures cleanliness of guttering and storm water drainage channels

Sweeping / Blowing of allocated areas of Garden Centre and surrounds

Assists with general care of all Nursery stock

Assists with general housekeeping of loading bay and loading bay exterior

Supports loading bay assistants with offloading, pricing stock and taking stock to the sales floor

Assist with loading goods for deliveries

Accompany the driver on deliveries where assistance is required

Assist with keeping the company vehicle clean and tidy.

Assists with basic painting, touch-ups and upkeep of fences, pots, benches, signage and other fixtures within the Garden Centre

Supports small maintenance tasks such as repairing or tightening shelves, brackets, taps or minor structural items

Assists in the setup, moving or refurbishment of display areas and garden features as needed

Helps maintain tool and equipment storage areas in a clean and orderly manner

Participates in the upkeep and seasonal preparation of the nursery area including shade netting, plant beds, misting systems, and irrigation points

Reports any hazards or potential maintenance issues to the Supervisor or Manager promptly.
