The ARC-Onderstepoort Veterinary Research (ARC-OVR) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic person to the following positions at Onderstepoort, Pretoria.
Job Description
Preparation of media observing sterile techniques as requiredaccording to standard operating procedures.
Preparation of reference materials (positive and negative).
Conduct environmental monitoring.
Washing and packing loops, scissors, teaspoons and forceps.
Daily temperature monitoring.
Conduct sterilization procedures.
Maintenance of good laboratory practices.
Preparation of sterile water for general laboratory use.
Timeous reporting on completion of tasks.
Timeous reporting of malfunctioning equipment.
Remove waste in clearly marked and labelled waste bins and bags from the Labs to the pre incineration room.
Ensure waste is clearly marked and labelled, and kept in controlled area and secured.
Ensure waste is removed and disposed correctly and securely.
Ensure correct use of experimental materials
Ensure waste is sorted before taken for incineration.
Ensure there is enough safety material for execution of tasks i.e. face masks and gloves,
Comply with biological safety regulations.
Remove dirty glassware from Labs and take to the washingroom to be cleaned.
Wash and steam sterilise all dirty glassware with the autoclave in the washing room.
Stock the glassware store with clean sterilised glassware.
Record all autoclave activities and keep recordings safe.
Ensure washing room is clean and maintained.
Inspect and report any faults with the equipment in the General bacteriology and Food and Feed laboratories(Autoclave, Water Purifier. Waterbaths, incubators, Fridge/freezer, Magnetic Stirrer.
