Komatsu South Africa is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic Artisan to join our dynamic team in Namakwasands. The preferred candidate should have at least 3 years post Trade experience on heavy earthmoving equipment within the mining or related industry and a relevant Heavy Equipment Mechanic Trade certificate.
Specific Knowledge Requirements:
Valid driver's license. (Essential)
Exposure to earth-moving machinery.
Have good troubleshooting knowledge of machines & must be familiar with standard tool requirements.
Computer literate.
Good understanding of maintenance philosophy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of and experience working with Komatsu equipment is an added advantage.
Job Specification Summary:
Remains up to date with health and safety procedures.
Conducts hazard identification and risk assessment.
Implement the Komatsu Way 5S sorting, organizing, cleaning, ordering, and training.
Adheres to SHE policies and procedures.
Participates in workplace safety events.
Operates any vehicles (trucks, cars, forklifts) within safety standards and procedures, even when not supervised.
Reports hazardous situations, incidents, or accidents.
Reports on vehicle usage and incidents.
Plans for health checks and inspection of equipment.
Informs the leadership of the work steps and technical issues.
Conducts visual machine/equipment inspection – health condition, breakdowns.
Conduct general inspection in terms of appearance, damage, or missing components.
Inspect for leakages, check machine operations, check rust, check for wrong or missing parts, download machine data, identify cracks visually, and take samples (oil, coolants, etc.)
Test and adjust faulty components/parts/systems.
Monitors the functionality of the component/equipment and progress made.
Reports inspection results, as well as any abnormalities or damage.
Reports problems and issues to the manager.
Complete daily activity and service reports.
Provide feedback regarding continuous improvement/suggestions to the manager.

Gain technical advice or approval to replace a part/component.
Execute mechanical/electrical repairs. Clean equipment/parts/components.
