Cashier – Hemmingways

Job description

Dis-Chem requires a permanent cashier for its Hemmingways store in East London. This is an entry-level retail role requiring Matric and a minimum of six months' cashier experience. The successful candidate will support the checkout operation while maintaining accuracy, customer-service standards and fraud-prevention controls. Retail-hours availability is essential. Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric
• At least six months' cashier/till-operation experience
• Computer literacy, including MS Office
• Sound numeracy, strong English and customer-service skills
• South African citizenship and clear credit and criminal records

Responsibilities

• Scan merchandise and process payments accurately
• Handle loyalty-card transactions
• Keep cash secure and follow cash-control procedures
• Process approved returns and authorised price changes
• Report suspicious behaviour and comply with store security policies
