Job description

Embark on a 12-month learning journey designed to build practical experience and develop relevant skills in line with the Customs & Excise Operations Cadet Programme. To successfully complete the SARS Customs Cadet Learnership Programme in order to gain exposure, develop skills and knowledge, and contribute to the effective delivery of Customs & Excise operations. Location: Johannesburg - Alberton X1, OR Tambo International Airport X14, Lanseria International Airport X3, Doringkloof Hub X2, Port Elizabeth X1, Durban Harbour X10, Durban Hub X4, Richards Bay Hub X3, King Shaka International Airport X1, Groblersbridge Border Post X1, Beitbridge Border Post X1, Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport X1, Oshoek Border Post X1, Lebombo Border Post X16, Kopfontein Border Post X3, Cape Town Harbour X8, Cape Town International Airport X10

Requirements

  • NQF Level 4 with Mathematics and or Accounting
  • 1 years' experience in an administration/ logistics/ customer service environment
  • South African Citizen.
  • Valid driver's licence (Code B/EB).
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and overtime where operational requirements demand.
  • Willingness to be deployed nationally to Customs operational environments, including land border posts in remote areas, airports, seaports and inland operational offices.
  • Willingness to undergo security screening, criminal record checks, qualification verification and integrity assessments.
  • Physically fit and able to work in an operational environment.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Age criteria: 18 - 35 years to specifically attract the youth

Responsibilities

  • Apply and utilise systems in a manner that ensures accurate processing of information that contributes to efficient and effective completion of tasks.
  • Assist with administrative tasks within the relevant division.
  • Attend to information requests received and send to the relevant department to source information.
  • Communication of transactional outputs and queries in area of work.
  • Deliver on contracted performance objectives according to set procedures and agreed service level agreements.
  • Embrace change initiatives and positively contribute to the success thereof within area of accountability.
  • Ensure quality of work content, minimise mistakes and continuously improve quality and standards.
  • Ensure that all basic queries are resolved timeously, in line with provided procedures and guidelines and escalate unresolved issues.
  • Follow and adhere to individual learner activity manual for the division or business unit.
  • Identify and analyse type of information requested.
  • Identify problems, apply known solutions in line with procedures or guidelines and escalate unresolved problems.
  • Keep up to date records of completed work.
  • Plan and organise own work in an effective and efficient manner to reach agreed performance objectives.
  • Report on transactional activity progression within set guidelines to provide timely information for decision making in area of accountability.
