Make your mark. 🌟 Purpose of the Job:The Junior Desktop Support Engineer provides first-line and mid-level technical support to end-users, ensuring the efficient operation of IT systems, hardware, and software. The role involves troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining devices and peripherals, supporting IT infrastructure, and providing timely, customer-focused solutions to minimize downtime. The position also includes the administration and timely management of service desk tickets through to resolution and closure.

Requirements

  • Must be a South African Citizen.
  • Must have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
  • CompTIA A+ –
  • CompTIA Network+ (N+)
  • IT-related Diploma or Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Support, or a related field – Recommended
  • Must have a clear criminal record.
  • Must have a clear ITC record.
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Must NOT currently be employed or participating in another internship or learnership programme.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first- and second-line technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, software, operating systems, and other IT-related issues.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems efficiently to minimise user downtime.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade operating systems, applications, drivers, and IT equipment.
  • Set up and configure new, rebuilt, or replacement PCs, laptops, and peripherals according to company standards.
  • Provide printer support, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and escalation of unresolved issues.
  • Assist with antivirus, Windows security, WSUS, and backup remediation to maintain secure and compliant IT environments.
  • Manage service desk tickets from logging through to resolution, ensuring all requests are actioned and closed within agreed SLAs.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to relevant internal teams or third-party vendors and monitor progress through to resolution.
  • Support IT projects, including hardware upgrades, business moves, system deployments, and technology changes.
  • Assist with Active Directory and user account administration where required.
  • Ensure IT equipment is correctly configured, updated, secure, and compliant with organisational standards.
  • Create, maintain, and update desktop support procedures, technical documentation, and knowledge resources.
  • Provide professional and customer-focused support to end-users while maintaining effective communication throughout the resolution process.
