Opportunity overview

Sasol has opened applications for its Artisan Maintenance Learnership at its Secunda operations in Mpumalanga, one of the largest industrial sites in the country.

The learnership runs for 36 months. You learn a trade through a mix of classroom training and real work at the plant, with the aim of becoming a qualified artisan. Artisans are scarce in South Africa, so a trade gives you a skill employers keep needing.

You may apply for one trade only, so choose carefully before you submit.

The five trades

  • Mechanical Fitter: installs and repairs pumps, compressors, gearboxes and other machines.
  • Instrumentation: maintains the gauges, sensors and control systems that keep the plant running safely.
  • Electrician: installs and repairs electrical equipment, motors and wiring.
  • Welding: joins and repairs metal pipes, tanks and structures.
  • Rigging: safely lifts and moves heavy equipment using cranes, slings and hoists.
