Eleven government adverts went up on FirstJobly yesterday, and together they cover more than 60 posts. Most need only Grade 12, several need Grade 10 or ABET, and not one asks for work experience. All of them come from the government's official Public Service Vacancy Circular 38 of 2026, and they close on 6 or 9 November 2026. That leaves you about a week, so read this today, not next weekend.

Which one fits you?

You have no matric. Start with the Limpopo Health general worker and ward attendant posts, the SAPS cleaner and garden worker posts in Pretoria, and the Labour office aid posts (Grade 10). These are physical jobs: porters, laundry, cleaning and lifting patients. Say honestly in your application that you can do that work.

You have matric and want office work. The clerk posts at Correctional Services, SAPS command centres, UIF Durban and the Office of the Chief Justice are classic first public-service jobs. Registry and stores work means filing, capturing and tracking documents and stock. Show you are careful and good on a computer.

You like talking to people. Look at the Correctional Services call centre agents and the Labour client service officers. The client service officer posts pay the most on this list, so expect more applicants.

How to apply without being disqualified

Government posts reject many applications on paperwork alone. Before you submit:

1. Use the new Z83 form, fully completed and signed. Leaving questions blank is one of the most common reasons for disqualification. FirstJobly's free CV Maker can help you fill in a Z83. 2. Quote the exact reference number for the post and the centre you want. SAPS and Correctional Services list several centres under one advert, so give each one its own application. 3. Follow the method on the advert. Several of these posts are online-only (the Correctional Services and Limpopo Health posts). The Office of the Chief Justice post uses a specific email address. Applications sent the wrong way are not considered. 4. Attach a short CV. Most posts now ask only for the Z83 and a CV at first, with certified copies of your ID and qualifications later if you are shortlisted. Read your advert, because some still ask for them upfront. 5. Submit by 6 or 9 November. Late applications are not accepted. Aim to apply at least two days early so a slow website or full inbox doesn't stop you.

Each FirstJobly listing above has an Apply button that opens the official circular PDF. Search the PDF for the post title or reference number, then apply exactly as it says.

Watch out for scams

Applying for a government job is free. No department asks for money to "secure" a post, process your application or book an interview. If someone on WhatsApp or Facebook promises you one of these jobs for a fee, it's a scam. Report it and apply only through the official circular.

What happens next

Shortlisting for public-service posts often takes two to three months. If you haven't heard anything within three months of the closing date, the advert usually says to treat your application as unsuccessful. Don't wait around in the meantime: keep applying, and set up a free FirstJobly job alert so new government posts reach your inbox first.
