The opportunity

PPS has opened its Graduate Intern: Financial Advisor programme (reference PPS260914-1). Placements are in Johannesburg and outlying areas of Durban, Gqeberha and Cape Town. No previous work experience is required.

Applications close on 15 December 2026. The advert does not state a salary.

Who qualifies

According to the official advert you need:

  • Matric
  • An NQF 7 qualification (for example a bachelor's degree or advanced diploma) in Business, Finance, Economics, Law or a similar field, held or completed during 2026
  • South African citizenship
  • To be younger than 34

A Financial Planning honours degree or postgraduate diploma is preferred, but not required.

If your qualification is from outside South Africa, you need a SAQA evaluation.

Who is excluded

You cannot apply if you have already taken part in an insurance-industry or INSETA internship or graduate programme. Check this honestly before you start the application.

The video interview step

PPS asks applicants to complete a video interview through a link in the official advert. Treat it like a real interview:

  • Find a quiet room with good light and a plain background.
  • Test your camera, microphone and data first.
  • Dress as you would for an office interview.
  • Prepare short answers on why you chose finance, why financial advice interests you and how you deal with people.
  • Look at the camera, not the screen, when you speak.

What makes a strong application

  • Lead with your qualification. Put your degree, major subjects and completion year at the top of your CV.
  • Show people skills. Financial advisors build trust. Tutoring, student leadership, sales or part-time customer service all count.
  • Mention numbers. Practical work with budgets, spreadsheets or a student society's finances shows you are comfortable with money matters.
