How to get through more applications in less time

Most entry-level applications ask for the same few things. Have these ready in one folder on your phone or laptop before you start:

  • An up-to-date CV in PDF. If yours is old, the free FirstJobly CV Maker builds an ATS-friendly one in a few minutes.
  • A certified copy of your ID, recently certified.
  • Your Matric certificate and, where asked, your academic record or qualification.
  • For government posts, a completed Z83 form. You can fill it in with the free Z83 tool.

Then read each listing carefully. Learnerships often have an age limit (commonly under 35), a residency requirement, or a rule that you must be unemployed and not already on a learnership. Applying when you don't meet a hard requirement only wastes your time.

Avoid scams

None of these employers charge a fee to apply, interview or train you. If someone asks you to pay for a "placement", a "registration fee" or uniform before you start, it is a scam. Apply only through the official link on each listing.
